delayed Mumday from the watery edge...

  1. Those are the sort of sights that would make a person want to live in the area (if they didn't already).

  2. =) It is a lovely place, and the constant cool (Delta) breeze is SO soothing and cooling. Heaven after a day of tromping over hot grassy hills for 5 hours.

  4. Beautiful pictures - very nicely composed. I guess that's a dock plant seed spike/panicle? And I don't know the name of the pretty fluffy grasses but I yank em as weeds from my central california property. They are so pretty I hate to do it but I want to restore the native landscape. So it's lovely to see them appreciated for their aesthetic charms!

  5. @ Country Mouse: it's rabbit's foot grass (Polypogon monspleniensis). http://www.calflora.org/cgi-bin/species_query.cgi?where-calrecnum=6784

I know--so sad it's non-native 'cause it's SO beautiful, but I, too, am very pro-native (see gadget at VERY bottom of blog page), so I'm VERY excited you are promoting them and giving them a place to live and prosper. It's a good thing. =) And think how psyched ALL the associated benefiting species are!!
