video of crazy flash flood in Queensland...

But make SURE, if you watch to the end, you look at how the cars are arranged, because...

... Geotripper explains probably WHY they settled in that position, just like river rocks. THIS is TOO COOL!

Wow. And to think I like to park my car so it has a "view" of something scenic, like a river. MAYBE not during crazy rain/floody times...

P.S. DONATE HERE if you wanna help--it goes directly to the government efforts to help everyone out.

  1. I've been following the flooding in Australia on the news over here for the last couple of weeks. Hearing the area affected is the size of France and Germany combined almost seems incomprehensible.

When something like this happens, it certainly makes you aware of how insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things.

And yes, it would definitely make you think twice about where to park your car.

  2. The most amazing part of that video is that no one is swearing. Most uncharacteristic of this part of the world!

The volume of water in these floods is extraordinary. Wivenhoe Dam, which is holding back some of the flooding from Brisbane, has been releasing about 490 GL a day with a peak of 645 GL overnight. Crazy amounts. And that's to minimise the flood downstream.

  3. @Bub: I didn't know it was such a huge area--wow! @Snail: that's TOTALLY FUNNY re: lack of swearing. Way to be brave. =) Thanks for the additional info. Wow.
