Western anemone, Pulsatilla occidentalis. Shot up at Mount Rainier. For those who don't know, the "ballerinas in tutus" are actually anemone seed heads, not the flower.
I love them. When they're full, they are SO Dr. Seuss, scattered in a sea of blue lupin against the black, ragged Tatoosh Mountains? Woah. Some day I'll dig up one of my pics of that scene and share it.
Heaven.

P.S. I learned today I MIGHT be heading up there this summer for a visit. SWEET!
