when ya just don't feel like writing...

Cook those tomatoes!

7 lbs of home grown tomatoes

I'm doubling Lynn Rosetto Casper's recipe for tomato sauce (tho' darn it I can't find it on the web--got it second hand...) to use more tomatoes.

And about 10 cloves of garlic.

Funny it should take writing procrastination to get me past procrastinating re: cooking the tomatoes.

Either way, I can now see more counter space that I have in a while. I still have a LONG ways to go, but most, yes, most of the really red ones are now destined for sauce. TODAY. =)

P.S.

Here is the sauce, gettin' saucy...

Lunch. Yum.

  1. You know, these tomato posts make me sad. I don't know WHAT is going on, but we haven't been able to get a good tasting tomato around here in over two years! Even at the market! And my home grown ones just aren't putting out. Even my !GRANDMOTHER! in !ARKANSAS! didn't have any luck this summer. It's a sad, sad thing...enjoy yours. And I really do mean that.

  2. Wow, see, this is part of what I love about this blog. Helps me appreciate what I have. =) THANK YOU for the smelling salts. And I have a belly full of pasta with tom sauce and ground bison, so am good for the day. I'm SO sorry your tomatoes have been bonking. That IS sad. I know 2 summers ago was REALLY bad for the east coast (too wet and cold). I wonder what's up? Curious. Did you get plenty of bees?
