800th post potpourri

classic bb photo of yore: taken whilst upside down & mega happy
at Mt. Rainier NP, hiking w/ marvelous friends.

So, not that I think numbers like this really matter, but
800 posts?!?

Apparently "biobabbler" was apt.

FUN combo of teddy bear sunflowers & pole beans I planted.
Frozen whimsey. Heaven.

I'd been thinking about what this one might be,
like a potpourri of random bio-dorky things
I've been doing & seeing & thinking lately.

'Cause that's what this blog is, really.

freakishly HUGE hole in our heads,
a.k.a. the sinus cavity. FREAKS me OUT.

But, then I randomly clicked on "insert image" in blogger,
and it brought up ALL the photos from this blog.
Trip down memory lane.

Amazing post-storm sunset after cruising Yosemite.

So, I'll share my recent things later.
For today, a random smattering of previous postage.

wetland outside New Orleans, weirdo lighting heaven.

Hi!

Western toad at our house. Note wee size via clover comparison. *sigh*
& the 4 letter code for it is (was) WETO so we biodorks call it "wee-toe". It is wee.

bb training volunteers in rocky intertidal monitoring by doing a demo plot.
At Cabrillo NM years ago. Upgraded water wear since then. =) & now I am a volunteer.

Bambi in the yard! teeter, teeter....

Point Reyes National Seashore. Heart. Majorly.

beloved coworkers' tootsies. Good shoes for Rattlesnake Land.
Note snake gaiters on lower right. Smart. But, HOT.

Freaky things lakes do when they freeze. Had no idea. Tenaya Lake, Yosemite.

k.

Thank you all for checking in and commenting, etc., over the years.

You are are the BEST!

800 hugs.

may be problems for some re: comments

Got news from a friend that biobabbler is oh-so-rudely rejecting his comments. I tested it and it worked for me (as Anonymous, via Firefox and Safari) but am working on getting more details.

I don't suppose you can comment if you are having problems, but you CAN e-mail me at biobabbler at g mail dot com.

If you are having problems, please tell me how you identify yourself (what option you use via "Select profile..."), what browser you are using (version if you know), and if you have a firewall to contend with (as do many feds).

Thanks!!

bb

p.s. My fingers and forearms are ITCHY!! They are COVERED in teeny tiny squash spines. The crookneck plants are OUT of conTROL, and I discovered a zucchini that was obscured by 10,000 leaves so is pretty hefty.

2 minutes of picking, 3.5 lbs of squash. harvested another 3.5 a day or two ago. close to 4 lbs a few days before that. Hm. Thinking a giant squash casserole (Midwestern genius recipe) is in order, and grilling.

And why, just now, did I buy vegetables at the grocery store?!? With 11 lbs of home-grown squash?

Yikes. And  I just noticed the sugar baby watermelons are getting pretty substantial.

Trying not to spiral down into produce panic...

Comment on accumulating "Comment" comments...

I love a little alliteration in the morning (tho' it's hard to spell before 2nd cup of coffee).

IF you ever have problems commenting, just send your comment to biobabbler@gmail.com and I'll post it. Make sure you tell me which post it should go under.

Typically even on a good day you have to post it (send, or whatever it is) twice. At least that was the case in the past.

Please DO NOT BE SHY about commenting. Gives me a thrill. Like shouting into a huge cave and getting an echo back. Or even a response!

Then imagine shouting into a cave and not getting an echo. Really, much less fun.

Plus you all are so clever and interesting, I frequently learn lots.

Hawaii crumbs and question for you all

Because I said I would, here's some HI pics. They're from the same place, Kailua Beach on Oahu. I'll snag more later, for more diversity.

Then a question--'cause I need your help.

Check out the shadows of the drops of water coming down from the wave... tilt monitor back if needed, to see more clearly.

I like the shape of the water and the pattern of the sand/water.

There. I have now, at least to a degree, fulfilled a request for Hawaii pics.

This is one of the most spectacular beaches I'd ever seen, and swimming in that crazy milky green color was one of the most amazing experiences in my life. Had NOT planned on swimming, but could not NOT go into that amazing color, bobbing around, immersed and just STARING at the color.

Hea-ven.

ANYhow, back to Earth:

Question:

Are you able to comment? If you've tried, did it work, what did you do (identity chosen), and what browser are you using?

I'm asking 'cause I had a problem with this today. I just checked out the blog via Firefox vs. Safari (go ahead, call me a Mac user) and it SO didn't work.

So, please tell me.

I         WANT        THIS         TO           WORK.

I like feedback.

Thanks, my patient little guinea piggies! =)

p.s. in future, if the term "piggies" is used, it's short for Guinea piggies, so is NOT an insult, yes? Yes.
=) See, you are now SO in the know.

submit comments twice...it's a little finicky...

Hey, there, folks. Just tested the comment function and I had to click submit twice; the first time it said it didn't process it, or words to that effect, so I just hit submit again, and it was fine.

I'm moderating comments VERY lightly, so no worries--you comment when I'm around, it won't take long for it to get approved.

For the most part, so far, just trying to stay anonymous, so mostly just deleting my name from any posts from folks who know me and let it slip.
